Měrko Šołta - Scholze Lusatian National Oratorio - ''Utopia'' and Reality.

In 1847, Korla August Kocor (1822 – 1904) composed the oratorio Serbski kwas (Lusatian Wedding). He reworked it completely in years 1848 – 1850. This masterpiece stands for an artistic and idealistic reflection of Lusatian wedding ritual and patriotic thought. The improved version especially highlights a dramatic value of the work and underscores the symbolism of |Lusatian pursuit for the naional freedom. These elements make Serbski kwas more deserving for the name of the national oratorio than Nalěčo (Spring).
